Toot toot - doing the happy dance!

Yesterday I said I had some good news...

....well do you remember before all the silly shenanigans in the snow I posted my entry for
the Kraftin Kimmie GDT competition

believe it or not they picked me as one of the
(hee hee I am chuffed to bits)

All 10 of us now have to produce a second card with the theme
"Pretty in Pink"
 here is mine:

Oh boy as soon as I saw this young ladies face I knew she was the image I wanted to use - her expression is "priceless"
and I could not resist making her a red head

The caption was the bit that stumped me......initially I was playing around with
Swan Lake and Swine Lake but I just could not get it to quite work!

Lets face it!

How many of you out there have created a beautiful card using
a Magnolia stamp only for the recipient to ask....

Why does it not have a face?

Well I have and if I am honest it has led to me ignoring my Magnolia and Hanglar collections!
UNTIL NOW

Magnolia/Hanglar purists please look away now!!

what do you think?

I am reasonably pleased with the results....however, I feel it is a little too early for me to produce a tutorial at present, I would like to master the technique first, but I intend to share with you how I do it in the not too distant future.

and here is a Magnolia

Although I am pleased with Tilda's face I am not so happy with either her hair or fingers.....I need to work much harder on these areas, but as they say "practice makes perfect".

This one is already calling for a re-do - so I may very well pull the image off the card and have another stab at it!!

Oh and apologies for not visiting your blogs over the last few days but I have been a little preoccupied with other things but normality should resume shortly.

UPDATE

It was never my intention to offend, I merely wanted to share with my readers how I had attempted to solve the one issue that had led to my Magnolia & Hanglar Stanglar collections being ignored and unused.

Ny on every time I gave a non-crafting friend or family member a card or gift with one of these characters on it I heard the same comments regarding the lack of features.

But I never expected the reaction I got from Magnolia luvvies,
some were very positive, whilst others were quite frankly downright rude.

There have also been questions raised regarding the copyright of stamped images - a grey area at the best of times.
(Please note that I have never been contacted by either Magnolia or Hanglar regarding the above pieces of work)

So I thought it prudent to withdraw my offer of a tutorial and
the stamps I am sad to say continue to gather dust!

Kraftin Kimmie GDT entry

Whilst blog hopping over the last few days I have seen some stunning creations by the
Kraftin Kimmi Design Team and found that there was an opportunity to try for a GDT spot!

I umm'd and aah'd and thought rats I cannot enter as I do not own any
Kraftin Kimmie Stamps.....

............then I delved into my box of as yet uninked rubbah and to my delight found
"The Toymaker"

woo hoo I exclaimed and set to work with ink, Copics and pencils.....

Not only was I required to use a Kraftin Kimmie image but I had to include a metal embellishment/paper/colour - as you can see I opted for gold colours in my image and gold metallic cardstock for both mounting and embellishment.

Here is the little toymaker in more detail:

He was coloured using a combination of Copics with a dash of pencil enhancement with DPs from the Festive Treats paper pad by First Edition Papers

Ooh I have got my fingers crossed

Party on Bip Bip

Oh I have been naughty, splurging on some new stamps, DP's and dies so soon after Christmas!

But in my defence the new toys have kickstarted my creativity and I am having a blast!!

Guess I should list the "new" bits first:
Nestabilities Grand Scalloped Circles
Bip Bip Birthday by Mo Manning
Hero Arts - Birthday Sayings

He's coloured using Caran D'Ache Pablo Pencils
and the DP is Lime Rickey by Basic Grey
cardstock coloured with silver Versa Color ink

Colouring shiny surfaces is always a challenge, but fun nonetheless!
I even added reflections...see if you can spot them

Saturday Snigger!

I will see how it goes....
......this may become a weekly event!

So here is my first
Saturday Snigger

OK, confession time, who did this as a child?
Anyone have a kid whose creativity has landed them on the naughty step?
(if my son was naughty he got a time-out on the bottom step of our stairs AKA"The Naughty Step")

And which looks like art to you?
Beatrice's crayon creations or my landscape and abstract??
(for me it is the landscape....and to think it took me about 5 mins to do!!!)

Supplies:
Beatrice's Crayon - CC Designs
This is what Art looks like - Cats Life Press
Animal Antics paper pad - First Edition Paper
Wall art (doodles & sketches) - Box of Colours
Copics
Pencils
Sakura Souffle pen

Not sure which part of this card was the most enjoyable to do
I had a blast colouring Beatrice...

......and as you can see I have tried to give her a more realistic expression than on the original stamp.

But I also had fun drawing the landscape and abstract artwork on the walls
not to mention the kiddie doodles!

Challenges:
ATC's with attitude - #31 Add a sentiment/anything goes
Stampin for the weekend - Anything goes
Stamping with the dragon - Anything goes
CCEE Stampers - New toys
Craft us Crazy - Something new
Paper Crafting Journey - Anything goes

Hope I have managed to put a smile on your face!!

Bright & Cheery

............more like dull and dreary
and according to the weatherman we may have a dusting of snow this weekend!!

So I thought it was time to grab some zingy yellows
&
make my own sunshine!!

As you can see I opted for pencils on kraft, teaming it with a lovely DP from Craft Creations Ltd called Green Meadow Buttercups.

Now having cut down on my DT's one of my intentions for 2013 is to work my way through all the stamps & images that I have shamefully never used - this little sweetie being one of them.
(she's part of the Pergamano Flower Girl set)
and I've been taking advantage of the sales to add a few sentiment stamps to my collection,
on this occasion I used Hero Arts Birthday Sayings

I have also invested in a portable soft lighting tent from Maplins
which I am illuminating with my bargain bendy floor lamps from Ikea.
In fact the most expensive part of this set up were the two economy daylight bulbs!!!
.....pretty pleased with the results so far, even with me operating the camera

Challenges:
Crafting for all Seasons - Something new
Divas by Design - Anything goes
My Mums Craft Shop - Anything goes
Inky Impressions Challenges - Add a sentiment

As always thanks for dropping by my blog today
