Down on the farm with Ruby

I knew it would not be too long before Ruby made another appearance on my blog.......

I have had a few enquiries as to whether I would be teaching faces......and "the eyes" during my Copic class at My Favorite Things..........sadly I am unable to include all the techniques I am known for..........I will maybe have to cover that in another class!

More information on my upcoming classes can be found HERE - please note Saturday is sold out but I do still have a few spaces available on Sunday.........and did I mention I am bringing scrummy English Cadbury Chocolate with me for all my students!!! 🍫🍫🍫

Right, back to todays card.  This time, I wanted to add a little more detail than of late so I included a dotty pattern with Copic to the farmers shirt.  Then once I had completed all the Copic colouring I went over certain areas, namely her hair and hat with coloured pencils (Caran D'Ache Pablo) oh and a added a smudgy bit of extra detail to her face......you can draw finer lines with pencils!

For those of you who like to play along and give my projects a go yourselves, here is a list of the colours.  Just remember if you are planning to add pencil to your Copic work, you must do it once you have finished all your Copic colouring.....you will damage your nibs if you use your markers on top of pencil work.

SUPPLIES:
Stamps: MFT Green Pastures, The Whole Herd
Paper: Copic card, Trimcraft Lillibet paper pad
Colouring Medium: Copic markers
Tools: MFT Gravel Grey Hybrid ink, MFT Blueprint 24, Misti

Thanks for dropping by, I hope you have enjoyed todays post, more to come soon including my latest piece of Copic fine art.

Happy Colouring

Nearly Friday.......new Artistic Expression Feature on it's way!

Hi guys, how are you all?

Just a reminder to check out the My Favorite Things blog tomorrow for my latest Artistic Expression Feature.........I've gone to jungle for this one!

Here is a sneaky peek...........

Shock, horror, Jane did not use a single Copic marker this month!  Yikes!!!

Hey, I needed a change and thought you guys would like to see that you can have just as much fun with a tin of colouring pencils!

Anyway, I'm off to fine tune my class material for the MFT Colouring Classes next month........and try it out on my students!   Thankfully they don't ask too many tricky questions, in fact they don't say anything at all.....mwah ha ha!

Sadly, Ruby the Photobombing Chicken is far too busy to help me with my classes so she sent her BFF's (Best Feathered Friends)
For anyone not familiar with these characters - they appeared in a film called "Chicken Run" a few years ago!

MFT CLASS UPDATE
Saturday 22nd April is SOLD OUT but we do still have a few spaces available for Sundays class!
More information on the classes can be found HERE

That's all for now, back soon with more colouring goodness

Colouring with Copics is such a hoot!!

Oh I have been having fun with the new release at My Favorite Things and here is a little owl for you.

There are never any mistakes in crafting, merely happy accidents!  So if your initial colouring idea does not work out - don't panic, take a deep breath because you can usually figure out a way to save your colouring from diving into the depths of your waste paper basket.  In my case I merely fussy cut both the tree stump and owl.........ta da, saved the day and managed to add dimension to my card - win, win!!

I also did a little bit of experimenting.  How many of you have MFT background stamps, with good intentions to use them, but don't know quite how to go about it?  Well, I took a piece of Copic card and stamped the Hessian background on to it using MFT Natural Hybrid ink - enabling me to colour my free-hand background over the top - if you opt for one of their paler hybrid inks you can easily add your own design with the delicate texture still showing through.  It just adds another dimension to your Copic colouring.

Talking of dimension, the tree stump was simply glued on to the background image, with the addition of shadows to give the impression of depth.  Then I stuck the little owl to the card with thin foam pads.....just enough to make the owl take centre stage!

SUPPLIES:
Stamps: MFT - Critter Clan, Happy Hedgehogs, Hessian Background
Colouring Medium: Copics (see list above)
Tools: Misti, MFT Hybrid ink - Natural, Foam pads

I am really chuffed that I managed to save this little guy from the "blooper bin" and that it inspired me to try something a little different with my background stamp!

Happy Colouring
