Last Christmas cards I promise

These are the special ones I made for my husband and son

First my husbands.....

Now there is a bit of a story behind this one, so bear with me.

When Ben was little of course Father Christmas would visit him and put all his presents in a sack under the tree (the sack I had as a child in fact) and the Tooth Fairy would magically swap his baby teeth for money when they fell out...............well that was until the day she forgot!

One late night near to Christmas when Ben should have been fast asleep she realised her mistake and quietly asked her husband (yep the Tooth Fairy is married & actually looks just like me) what should she do whilst standing outside Ben's room; sneak in in the pitch dark and risk waking him up, or try and swap it first thing in the morning and run the risk of him waking first and seeing the tooth was still there?

Then I, errr I mean the Tooth Fairy heard a little voice...
"Mummy if you are the Tooth Fairy that means Father Christmas is not real too"

I was crushed and knew my cover was blown
my sweet little son was just 6½ years old
(and too smart for his own good)

We could not lie to him, so from then on we had to make him promise not to let on to all the other little boys and girls who still believed in Father Christmas......it was adorable, he'd wink at you when he was pretending and thought he was such a big boy because he knew the secret!

as for that little boy
who is now 17

...........and yes there is a little story to this one too!

We live quite near to Whipsnade Zoo and when Ben was little I would take him to visit quite often.  It was a running joke that Ben would refuse to go near the penguin encloser because they smell.

This little boy would get a whiff of fishy/penguin pong and announce
"eugh, stinky penguins!"
and head off in the opposite direction....at speed!

but snakes, bugs and anything that made Mummy's skin crawl were wonderful!

Ha ha the joys of being a parent!!

As this will probably be my last post before the big day
I'd like to wish all of you
a very

One, two, tree!

Hey no cards today!

I thought I would share pictures of our Christmas trees.....yes we have more than one!

The first is my little pink one I have in my art studio

I made the fairy using a die cut & some of the ornaments are Hanglar & Magnolia images on shrink plastic - they came out the perfect size for this titchy tree.

Next is our main family one

With quite a few Disney themed ornaments & crackers, no surprise there.

Then there is our son Ben's tree

I have been buying him a couple of ornaments every year since he was born and eventually he had enough to have his own tree.

and last but my no means least here is my husbands tree he has in his home office

Happy Christmas everyone

And there's more....

Just when you thought you'd seen all my Christmas cards......

Ha ha fooled you!

Well, I have seriously OD'd on uber CAS cards - I wanted to get my teeth into a more challenging digi - and when that urge takes me I need look no further than my Mo Manning Collection!

Unfortunately I made my usual mistake of being a tad too keen to colour the image and forgot to check my vast array of background papers inorder to colour match first ......... V91, V93 & V95 combine to make such a pretty grey lavender colour but I had nothing quite that shade, hence I added a touch of ribbon either side so your eye is drawn away from the colour difference, well that was my plan! Has it worked?

Here is Noelle for her close up
I am still working on using complimentary colours for shadows & depth instead of grabbing the greys, but I made bit of a blooper choosing a mustard colour to use with the lavender grey coat - oops!  I should really learn to test it out on spare card first - if the colourless blender had not been able to remove most of it the saying "another one bites the dust" may well have applied here!

Seeing double

When you have identical twins celebrating their 18th birthday
what do you do with regards to their cards?

My son's helpful request as you may recall was...
"make something the same but different"

....and here is what I came up with

As you can see I opted for the same image but in different colours and will leave it to Ben to decide who gets which card!!

I added my own sentiment in Word prior to printing out the images and then chose the backing papers, enabling me to colour match the girls
(something I should try to do more often as it makes life so much easier!!)

Supplies:
Girl with sign by Mo Manning
Copics
Polychromo Pencils
Stella Rose Mabel Papers - My Minds Eye (Green)
Spring Chic - Me to you (Pink)
Nestabilities
Sewing Machine
Ribbon from stash

Challenges:
Simon Says Stamp - Favourite thing
Crafts & Me - No blue
Paper Shelter - 2 of anything
Pennys paper crafty - Something new

That's all for now

Christmas Cards

Hello there everyone

I don't know about you but I am still getting inky trying to complete the last few
Christmas Cards

and I thought I'd share a few of them with you
over the next couple of weeks........

So here is the first

" A Partridge in a Pear Tree"

Supplies:
12 Days of Christmas - Penny Black

All these cards are pretty simple (and small) as I had quite a few to get done
and I did not want to have a repeat of last year - I had to go out and buy them!

See you tomorrow with another card

Without Words Challenge

As today is the first Monday in December
it means we have
a new
Without Words Challenge
for you

The theme this time is:
"Monochrome"
(Your creations should be in black and white or in varying tones of only one colour)

and we are being sponsored by
Rick St Dennis
ooh we now have prizes!!

Here is my DT piece using Rick's
Night Before Christmas Santa

I coloured him using a combination of greys,
infact I used every grey I had in both my Polychromos and Pablos tins!!

Other Supplies:
Paper - Christmas scrolls by Craft Creations
Ribbon and peel offs from stash

Now if you can hear someone laughing at this point
it will probably be our DT leader Squirrel.......

I sort of got a bit carried away with this challenge and merrily coloured my Santa in red, gold, white and black - in other words I totally forgot the "monochrome" part of the challenge!
So this numpty had to make another card
in
"Monochrome"

I'll post the more colourful version of Santa on my blog soon!

So please don't forget to follow the theme
and

Put away your doilies, flowers and bling
it has to be
Clean and simple
if you want to win!
(sentiments are allowed)
