20 November 2019

You had me at ice cream!

I finally got to play along with the #thedailymarker30day challenge!

And here is the Whimsy Stamps - Ice Cream Penguin mounted on a card.

I was wondering how many of you have a dilemma when mounting Copic colouring on a white card base........... the card I use for Copics is a completely different shade of white and it didn't look right on the plain white card base.

So it gave me the perfect excuse to flick some Distress Oxide ink that co-ordinated with the colours used on the penguin.  I managed to get it on me, my craft mat, my table oh and even the card base....... hey, please don't judge, I was having fun!
A simple way to add a smidge of colour to white card.

For anyone interested in colouring this little chap, here is a list of the colours I used:

COPIC COLOURS
Body: BV01, N4, N6, N8, B0000, NO, N1, N2
Eyes: 100, B000
Feet: YR20, YR21, YR23, YR27, W4, W5
Ice Creams:
Strawberry: RV10, RV11, RV32, RV34, BV11, V20
Mint: G000, YG41, YG61, YG63
Vanilla: YR30, E51, E53, E55, E27
Chocolate: E21, E23, E25, E27, E49

Coffee: E40, E41, E42, E43, E44

Until next time

Super Boy

A while ago I posted this image on instagram of me testing out my new drawing board.
(I can report that my shoulders and neck feel a lot better since I've been using it)

Anyway, I thought I'd share the finished card I created using the Whimsy Stamps "Super Boy" image.

He was initially coloured with Copic markers, then enhanced with Caran D'Ache Pablo pencils (hair and fine detail lines only)

For those of you who would like to give this a try here are the Copic colours I used:

COPIC COLOURS
Skin: E0000, E000, E40, E41, E42, BV20, R20, BG93
Eyes: B0000, W0, B12, B16, 100
Belt: Y11, Y13, Y15, Y17, W1, W3
Hair: E51, E13, E23, E25, E27

Until next time, happy colouring!

Is it a bird, is it a plane?.....No it's Supergirl!

Oh boy, I certainly wished I had had super powers recently so I could have avoided picking up a pesky viral infection........hey, ho, sort of back to myself again and yes I have been colouring!

Not quite ready to share what I have been up to just yet........suffice it to say I pushed myself further than I've ever done before and am pretty amazed at what I've achieved...........more on that next week!!!

Until the big reveal, here is something else I coloured recently:

Now I confess, the hair -  grrrr, my nemesis; if I am going to have sticky Copic issues you can guarantee it will be with the hair!  This meant I required the assistance of a little colour pencil touch up to save the day!
And if you look carefully you can see that I gave the envelope a little star treatment, adding them to both the front and the back. It does not show in the photograph but they sparkle too, courtesy of a touch of clear Wink of Stella!

She was coloured using the "No Lines Technique" (a tutorial will be appearing on my blog in the not too distant future)
I then opted to fussy cut Supergirl for a change, mounting her with foam pads onto a distress ink coloured background.

Stamps: Super Girl by Whimsy Stamps, Block Sentiments by Lili of the Valley
Paper: Personal Impressions Premier Quality Smooth White card
Colouring Medium: Copic Markers, Caran D'Ache Pablos pencils

and have a great weekend

Ahoy Matey!

I had a little fun with this one and decided to play around with my airbrush, something I've not done in a while!

Without further ado here is my latest creation for Copic Europe:

It was also a good excuse to play with my new crayons that my lovely husband bought me for Christmas: Caran D'Ache Neocolor II water-soluble.
The bonus with these little beauties is that they can be used both wet and dry.........I used them dry for the sand and wet for the sea spray/waves.....I loved how it turned out!!

The pirate image was coloured separately and then cut out with scissors and a craft blade before being mounted on to the sprayed background.

A little tip:
If like me you are rather pernickety about fussy cutting it is wise to always keep your W2 marker handy.  I use it to carefully and lightly go round the edges of my cut images, it ensures that if you are mounting your image on a darker background there won't be any annoying white bits showing, just nice clean crisp black lines!
Whimsy Stamps - Pirate Boy
Sugar Pea - Heart Journal Card Set die
Copic Airbrush
Caran D'Ache Neocolor II crayons
Copics:
Bandana/Shirt - R22, R24, R29, B0000, N0, N1, N2
Waistcoat - E41, E42, E43, E44, E47, E49, W2
Trousers - B91, B93, B95, B97, B99, R29, R24
Sword - E21, E23, E25, E27, E29, E49
Hair - E00, E11, E13, E15, E17, E18
Patch - W0, W2, W4, W6, W8
Face - W9, RV32, RV34, W1, W3, E0000, E000, E00, E40, V20, R30, R20, C00, C0, C1
Hook - C1, C3, C5, C7, C9
Background - B01, B02, BG01, BG02, BG05, BG07, BG13, E55

I don't know about you but when I use my airbrush I always seem to end up spraying myself, I had extremely inky fingers on my left hand where I'd been holding down my masking card - note to self to use more tape next time!
But atleast with my trusty cardboard airbrush booth I can keep my desk nice and clean!
(I cannot remember where I got it, sorry)

I hope this card inspires you all to dust off your airbrushes or go splurge on one and have a go; it really does give you a lovely background to showcase your stamped images and adds another dimension to your Copic colouring!!

Happy Colouring
